Writing Across the Curriculum

The Learning Center at Capital Community College supports Writing Across the Curriculum in the following ways:
  • by keeping frequently used writing assignments on file in the Learning Center and making them available to instructors, tutors, and students;
  • by maintaining an Archive of Writing Assignments and Students' Sample Papers on line;
  • by offering workshops on writing for students in various disciplines, including Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, History, and others; and
  • by gathering information and maintaining links to relevant sites on the Internet.

In addition, Director of the Learning Center and Alternative Instruction Programs,
Kurt Simonds, is available to consult with faculty and staff throughout the college
on the teaching and assessing of writing.

If you would like to offer suggestions, update the writing assignments on file or on-line, or consult with Kurt Simonds, please call 906-5199.
