MISSION

The Latin American Students Association has been very active at the college for many years. Since 1986, we have had activities every semester and have accomplished much.

The mission of the Latin American Students Association is:

· To share the richness of the Latino culture in our college.

· To promote unity among Latino students as well as among members of other ethnic groups at Capital.

· To address educational issues and promote participation of our members in college's and community's activities.

· To act as liaison and/or advocate between Capital Latino students, the student government and the Administration of CCC.

During these past 15 years the Latin American Students Association, before known as the Hispanic Students Association, has been involved in volunteer projects throughout our community, helping with recruitment of Latino students and serving as mentors in elementary schools.

We also have established a fund that provides Latino students of limited resources, with some financial help to purchase books for a particular class.

Also,

· We promote leadership development by attending various conferences in and out of state.

· We work in conjunction with other Latino college students organizations in issues important to us.
