Classroom Technology
Academic Media Technology designs, maintains, and administers the classroom audio-visual presentation systems at Capital. Each room features presentation equipment that allows instructors and students to incorporate many different types of materials into a rich, multimedia learning experience.

Having technical difficulties? Call x5030 from your classroom phone for immediate assistance (during normal office hours).

College classrooms and labs, conference rooms, lecture halls, tutoring centers, the Community Room, and the Auditorium (nearly 90 rooms in all) feature a high-tech "instructor's station" that includes:

  • Networked PC with CD/DVD
  • Document Camera
  • Multimedia Projector or Flat-Screen Display
  • One-Touch Control Panel
  • Speakers for amplified sound

Instructors have a variety of options when incorporating instructional material into their lessons, all displayed on a large screen to the classroom: videos and music, internet, Microsoft Office documents, textbook images, CD- and DVD-ROMs, small objects, newspapers and magazines, and even old-school transparencies. Instructors using Blackboard Learn to deliver online content as part of a web-enhanced or hybrid course, can display Blackboard on-screen and give a tour of the online course environment to students.

Academic Media Technology provides instructional multimedia design services to assist faculty in creating audio-visual learning materials that take advantage of the classroom presentation systems, providing a rich learning experience for students. AMT also offers small group and individual training to faculty members who wish to learn more about these systems. Click the image above for an interactive tutorial on the various classroom control systems, or you can contact our Help Desk in Room 1031 (ext. 5030).
