The Crestron Control Panel
Centinel Hill Hall Auditorium
The first step in setting up the room for a presentation is to connect the Crestron Control Panel to the Lectern. The Crestron Control Panel allows the user to activate the system, turn the projector on and off, raise and lower the projection screen, adjust the volume, and switch between each of the presentation media sources. If you have loaded a videotape or DVD in the Equipment Closet, you will have touch-screen controls for those devices as well.
CONNECTING THE CONTROL PANEL
Bring the Crestron Control Panel to the Lectern at the front of the auditorium. The Lectern is hard-wired to the floor, so it should not be moved from its location, otherwise damage to the wiring will occur and the system will be rendered inoperable. To connect the Crestron Control Panel, look for loose cables in the bottom of the Lectern. The 3 cables bound together allow you to connect a Laptop Computer. The single black cable is for the Crestron Control Panel. Connect it to the port on the back labeled NET/VIDEO (pictured at right). The screen will power up and display the message "Touch Screen to Begin." Touch the screen firmly, and the main control screen will appear.
CONTROL PANEL MAIN SCREEN
Across the top of the main screen, seven source buttons allow you to switch between your presentation devices. Currently, only four sources are available: PC (if Laptop is connected), Doc Cam (if connected), DVD, and VCR. Along the left side of the main screen, several buttons access controls for the Multi-Media Projector, the Projection Screen, Dimmable Room Lighting, System Volume, and System Shutdown.LIGHTING CONTROLS
Press the Lighting Controls button on the touch-screen, and you will have access to 4 preset lighting options, as well as the ability to turn off all dimmable lighting in the auditorium. However, non-dimmable flourescent lighting can only be turned on/off using wall switches near the equipment closet.USING MICROPHONES ONLY?
If you are using microphones only, and don't need any display sources (such as DVD or the Document Camera), the sound system becomes active the moment the Crestron Control Panel is connected. You can turn on the wireless microphone(s) and adjust the volume level with the Crestron Control Panel. Proceed to Using the Microphones for detailed instructions.
LOWERING THE PROJECTOR SCREEN
To use other presentation sources (DVD, VCR, Document Camera, Laptop Computer), you will now need to turn on the Projector and lower the Projection Screen. Press the button for Screen Controls, and you will see three new buttons for the Projector Screen: UP, DOWN and STOP. Press DOWN and the screen will slowly lower from the ceiling.
TURNING ON THE PROJECTOR
Next, press the button for Projector Controls, then under Projector Power, press the ON button, and the Projector will turn on and slowly brighten up (takes about 60 seconds to reach full brightness).
You may now select and control your presentation sources.
