Common Classroom Mistakes

Even though this new technology is relatively easy to operate, Academic Media Technology responds to "help" calls quite often. Sometimes, a quick visit to this website could have avoided classroom delays while the instructor was trying to troubleshoot an equipment problem. Solutions to the most common mistakes are described here…

The 5 most common mistakes occurring in the classrooms are:

1. MAIN POWER NOT TURNED ON
If the Main Power for the system is not turned on, none of the equipment will power up. (CLICK FOR DETAILS)

2. PROJECTOR LAMP NOT TURNED ON
"My tape is playing in the VCR," or "the Document Camera lights are on," but "I can't see the image on the projector screen." Did you turn on the Projector lamp?

3. DOCUMENT CAMERA IS IN "NEGA" MODE
In this case, the Document Camera produces a negative image of your document. Black text on white paper will appear as white text on a black background. Switch it back to "POSI" mode.

4. VCR WON’T ACCEPT A VIDEOTAPE
If you try to force your tape into the VCR, it will reject it. This has already resulted in several broken VCRs. Slowly and gently insert your tape, and the VCR will self-load it. (CLICK FOR DETAILS)

5. SOUND LEVEL TOO LOW
Several reasons could cause low sound levels. The most common remedy is to turn the volume up on the control panel at the instructor's station. (CLICK FOR DETAILS)
