On June 16, CSN was present in the Juneteenth Family Day, at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. The Juneteenth celebration marks the celebration of freed slaves. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln signed the proclamation to free slaves. Unfortunately the news did not reach Texas for two and a half years. The reasons are unknown. The official Juneteenth celebration was based on the actual date of June 19, 1865, when Mayor General Gordon Granger delivered the news. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 in memory of African Americans and African ancestors being freed from slavery.
