Placement Testing

To assure that students are adequately prepared for college-level courses, basic skills placement tests must be taken prior to registration. The results of these tests are used by the college staff to place students into appropriate courses. Students whose native language is other than English must take an ESL (English-as-a-Second Language) test. Exemptions from testing are detailed in appropriate material prior to each semester.

Please report on your scheduled test date at least 20 minutes early. You will need to bring with you:
- Your banner ID number
- A picture ID
- A pen and pencil. Scratch paper will be provided and no calculators are allowed
Each student should report on the designated day since the testing space is limited

How do I register for the TEAS?
You will need to register on the ATI website. Go to www.atitesting.com to see a listing of Capital Community College test dates. Select the date you would like to attend and add it to your cart for checkout. Make sure to register for testing at Capital Community College.
*All students will need to have a Connecticut Community College I.D. number in order to register for this test.
What is the cost to take the TEAS?
The cost to take the TEAS is $25.00. Payments are made directly to ATI via their website when you register for the test. Debit and credit cards are the only form of payment accepted. NOTE: CCNP does not accept any payment for this test.
What do I need to do the day of the test?
Once you have registered, you will need to arrive to the Placement Test Center (rooms 220 & 218) 10 minutes early the day of the test.

| New Student Advising Workshops |
After taking your placement test, student's should make an appointment to attend one of Capital's New Student Advising Workshops. The workshops are held in the 2nd floor Community Room (Room 206). At the workshop student's will:
- Obtain their test scores.
- Learn more about what Capital has to offer.
- Meet with a counselor or advisor to select courses and have their questions answered.
