COMPLETING THE ASSESSMENT CYCLE
using Program Review and Departmental Planning processes

  1. In preparation for Program Review year, require coordinators to
    1. Define program goals in the assessment format and course outlines (with objectives & outcomes) of all relevant courses for each goal.*
    2. Make or initiate changes to assure compatibility between courses and goals.*
  2. In Program Review process, add segments asking coordinators to
    1. Review program goals and the course outlines of all relevant courses for each goal. Report on coherence between program goals and course objectives and on any changes that may need to be made.
    2. Report on the implementation of a full assessment cycle for one goal.*
    3. Outline plans for implementation of assessments of other goals.*
    4. Describe how specific assessment findings are being used to improve the program.
  3. In Departmental Annual Reports, add request that chairs
    1. Summarize assessments (a-d above) of any program in the department that was reviewed during the year.
    2. Report on any assessment activities of other programs under department purview, including progress toward posting course outlines and program goals.
    3. Report on department's response to any relevant assessment findings in General Education or Developmental Education.
  4. Link budget decisions to assessment activity
