ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES
ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB

If you have a navigation frame to the left (a list of academic disciplines) and you'd like to get rid of it, you can do so by clicking HERE. Clicking on the hyperlinks on this page will open a new window, eliminating the navigation frame to the left. We do not wish to confine other people's Web pages to our framed structure. You can return to this page by using the BACK button on your browser, by saving it as a Bookmark or Favorite, or by using the pulldown menu on the address line (if your browser is so equipped).

Email Discussion Groups in Engineering Areas, an exhaustive, searchable list maintained by Nova University. A similar, even longer list is provided under the heading of Technology. If you have an e-mail account, you can access several thousand e-mail discussion groups covering almost every scholarly, professional, or avocational topic imaginable.
Subscribing to Discussion Groups
Discussion groups usually maintain two network addresses-one for subscriptions (and other administrative commands) and the other for postings to the group.
On the Internet, the administrative address has the same name as the discussion list, with the suffix -REQUEST added. (On BITnet, the administrative address is listserv@.) For example, if you wish to subscribe to a discussion list on the Internet called gerinet on the host ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu, send a request to:

gerinet-request@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu
and use the following line as the text of your message:
subscribe gerinet
If you want to subscribe to a list on BITnet, you'd join by sending the above message to listserv@ubvm.bitnet. Note: Always attach .bitnet to the end of a BITnet address.

Warning: You may be inundated with mail! It is a good idea to unsubscribe from lists before going on vacation. Also, be careful when using your mailer's reply command. Sometimes, you may wish to respond to all subscribers of the list; other times, you may intend to reply privately to the person who posted the original message.
